How to make bias binding
This is very easy if you have a long ruler.
- Cut a regular square of fabric. This one is 11.5" on each side. Cut along the diagonal.
- Pin bottom of lower triangle to top of upper triangle, right sides together. Sew a 1/4" seam.
- Press seam open and mark parallel lines 2" apart. (or whatever width you need).
- Now the tricky part: Bring remaining short sides together; match up the end of line 1 (blue pin) with the end of line 2 (yellow pin).
- Sew 1/4" seam and press open. There should now be a continuous line sprialling around the whole tube. Cut along the lines.
- Press in half lengthwise. Now you have a little less than 4' of 2" bias tape.
- For a longer tape, start with a larger square.
